Deaf Hands Speak is a student organization on The University of Alabama campus. They work to raise awareness and teach others about the deaf community. They host meetings to learn about the deaf community, teach American Sign Language, and there are even courses on sign language on UA's campus thanks to this organization.

Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, or AIDB, is the world’s most comprehensive education, rehabilitation and service program serving individuals of all ages who are deaf, blind, deaf-blind and multidisabled. Founded in 1858, AIDB now serves more than 22,500 infants, toddlers, children, adults and seniors with hearing and vision loss throughout Alabama each year.

Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services has a mission of enabling Alabama's children and adults with disabilities to achieve their maximum potential. The ADRS is composed of four major programs: 1. Alabama’s Early Intervention System (EI), 2. Children’s Rehabilitation Service (CRS), 3. Vocational Rehabilitation Service (VRS), and 4. State of Alabama Independent Living (SAIL) Service. Blind and Deaf Services is not a separate division, but is contained within VRS.
There are several services around the Tuscaloosa area that work to help the deaf community in West Alabama.
